Proformas and invoices explained

When you get a payment request versus a final invoice — and how the two relate.

Updated 22 July 2026

Your account uses two kinds of billing document, and it helps to know which is which.

Proforma — a payment request

A proforma is a request for payment, not a fiscal invoice. You get one when you place an order or top up your credit. Nothing happens until it's settled: an order isn't provisioned, and credit isn't added, while its proforma is still unpaid. Open proformas are kept prominent on your billing page so they're easy to find and pay.

Invoice — the final document

When a proforma is paid and our team confirms the payment, it's finalised into a real invoice — the fiscal document for your records, issued already marked paid. For an order, this is also the moment provisioning starts.

In short

  1. You place an order or a top-up, and a proforma is raised.
  2. You pay it by bank transfer, or from your account credit.
  3. Payment is confirmed, a final invoice is issued, and your order is provisioned (or your credit is added).

You'll find proformas and invoices in separate lists under Billing.
