Rescue mode boots your server into a small live environment loaded over the network, without changing anything on the disk. It's the tool for repairing a system that won't boot, resetting a password, checking a filesystem, or copying data off before a reinstall. Open it from the Rescue tab.
Booting into rescue
- Pick a rescue system from the list.
- A rescue login password is generated for you — copy it before you boot; you'll use it to log into the rescue environment.
- Confirm to reboot the server into rescue.
Your data on disk is left untouched — rescue is booted, not installed. Once it's up, connect with the remote console or over SSH using the rescue password.
Leaving rescue
When you're done, return to the Rescue tab and choose Exit rescue & boot from disk. The server reboots back into its installed operating system and the rescue session ends.
Note: rescue can't start while an OS reinstall is in progress — wait for the reinstall to finish first.
